Classroom Information

Welcome to Our Kindergarten Classroom
Students are nurtured and instructed in God’s Word through Bible lessons, prayers, devotions, songs and how we approach discipline. Our students learn foundational skills that prepare them for the routine of school and the process of focusing and learning. In addition, our students learn problem solving skills and social skills needed for making friends through play and daily activities.
Each day will include Bible lessons and songs, calendar activities, math, language arts, science, social studies, recess, lunch, snack time and center time for play. Physical education, art and music also complete the week.
Bible lessons are taught daily using the Christ Light curriculum. Each Bible lesson provides a truth and an application for the children’s lives. This is the most important part of our day. Language arts is taught using Superkids and includes practice with letter and sound awareness, phonics, phonemic awareness, writing, comprehension and handwriting. Math includes practice with patterning, counting, sorting, classifying, number recognition, shapes, addition, subtraction, estimating, money, and time. Science and social studies focus on various topics and are taught through the use of children’s books, art projects, music, and investigations through experiments and play. Through these topics, the children will learn more about God’s created world around us.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Sharing God's Love With Mrs. Kim Lemke
It is such a privilege to share God’s Word and the world with the Kindergartners of St. John’s Lutheran School and to serve the families of the Jefferson area! I received my bachelor’s degree from Martin Luther College (then DMLC) in 1989. I have been blessed to serve as the kindergarten teacher here at St. John’s for the past six years. I also have had experience teaching grades 2K-4th grade during my teaching career. I have had the privilege to teach at St. Matthew’s Lutheran School, Benton Harbor, MI; First Lutheran School, Lake Geneva, WI; Christ St. Peter’s Lutheran School, Milwaukee, WI; Bethany Lutheran School, Fort Atkinson, WI; and St. John’s Lutheran School, Jefferson, WI.
My husband (Peter Lemke) and I were married in 1990 and have been blessed with four children. Ryan and his wife Rachel live in Appleton, WI where he teaches at Fox Valley Lutheran High School. Kristin and her husband, Thomas live in Yankton, SD where he is a pastor. She is a SPED teacher in the local school. Megan and her husband, Cole live in Columbus, WI where she teaches at Zion Lutheran School. Nathan teaches at Our Savior’s Lutheran School in Wausau, WI.
Being a teacher is a great privilege! I especially enjoy watching kindergartners grow over the course of the year in so many social and academic areas. Most importantly, I feel honored to play a role in their faith life as they learn more about their Savior’s love for them! When I am not teaching, I enjoy reading books, watching movies and musicals, and traveling with my family to different national parks.
