Classroom Information

Welcome to 5th and 6th grade!

In my classroom, I want to provide opportunities for students to study and explore God’s World and God’s Word. I strive to keep Christ as the center of our classroom and our daily interactions with each other as we serve Him and one another in love. Students will grow academically, socially and most importantly spiritually.

5th and 6th Grade Curriculum

Memory Work: OUt students memorize Bible passages related to the lessons they are studying in religion. They also memorize selected hymn verses

Religion: Our students read from the bible to learn how each lesson applies to their lives. We use Christ Light lessons 2 times a week and have Catechism lessons twice a week.

Math:Our students deepen their understanding of mathematical concepts through smaller, easily assimilated increments that are spread across the year. We use the Saxon Math curriculum.

Literature: Our students focus on integrating the arts to make a connection with reading content. We use a novel lesson books-based curriculum.

Spelling: Our students retain, internalize, and transfer valuable spelling knowledge for improved results in all areas of literacy in the classroom and beyond. We use Zaner-Bloser’s Spelling Connections.

Language: In Language Arts, our students develop their skills in grammar and writing. We use Sadlier 2022.

Social Studies: Our students learn Ancient History one year and how God had his hand in telling “His-Story”. The other year, we study from the Reformation era to the Western movement in American History. A hands-on project-based learning is used.

Science: Our students learn science concepts and principles in a hand-on approach covering life science, earth science, and physical science with the use of FOSS Science.

Music: Our students learn both secular and religious songs and put into practice some of the fundamentals of music as they learn to play hand chimes, boomwhackers, and sing in Jr. Choir.

Art:Our students learn about various artists and their unique styles of art, and they undertake several projects of their own. They also learn that while God did not give everyone equal artistic abilities, all good efforts are God-pleasing.

Physical Education:Our students learn skills in several sports, including soccer, ultimate frisbee, football, floor hockey, track and field, basketball, dancing, softball, etc. In conjunction with cooperative games that emphasize teamwork, problem-solving and the importance of fair play.

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

Joshua 1:9

And Jacob, a 2023 graduate of UW Stevens Point, and is getting his MBA and is a member of the Track and Field team.

I am also the Grace Notes (Ladies Choir) director, play organ for church and coach boys basketball. I am blessed to be able to use the talents and abilities God has given me in the areas of ministry that I truly enjoy serving.

When I am not at school, you will find me following Wisconsin sports teams, enjoying time with my family and watching my children participate on their school’s track and field teams.
