Students have days full of focused learning, interactions with their peers, and physical activities, always in the light of God’s Word and nurtured by God’s love.

Word of God—Two Bible lessons will be studied each week.  A variety of teaching methods, assignments, activities, songs, videos, and art projects will be used to reinforce the lessons. 

Chapel—4K through grade eight will join together in the church or gym for worship each Wednesday morning, sitting with their “buddy groups” which change each quarter.                                

Math—Classes will be held daily (plus extra practice some days.)  Review, board work, manipulatives, fact practice and games are a regular part of math work.

Reading—Reading textbooks, workbooks and worksheets are used to ensure that basic skills are covered.  Children are introduced to many types of literature and forms of creative writing to encourage a lifelong love of reading whether for spiritual growth and encouragement, for information or for enjoyment. 

Spelling—Students will work on a spelling list each week.  Spelling lists will include words that follow spelling patterns, sight words, and “trickers” (words that don’t seem to follow the rules.)                                                                                                     

Science and Social Studies—Students have a wonderful opportunity to study the blessings of God’s amazing creation through investigations, experiments, children’s books, and videos.

Music—Hymns, Christian music, and fun songs are learned and enjoyed. Students begin their study of music theory.

 Art— Art projects will focus on an aspect of art, a famous artist, a season, a gift, experimentation, or activities that are just for fun.  A variety of mediums will be used.

After graduating from Dr. Martin Luther College, I taught 1st-4th grades in Fallbrook, California, 8th grade in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was a stay-at-home mom with my then little boys in Plano, Texas, taught 3rd-5th grades at St. John’s in Burlington, Wisconsin, and Kindergarten and then grades 1-4 at Cross of Glory in Washington, Michigan, where I have lived for the past 19 years. I am blessed with three sons and daughters-in-law and 13 grandchildren all under the age of 8! I grew up in Milwaukee and am enjoying being able to see my mom, siblings, and extended family more often. I am blessed to teach His little lambs here at St. John's. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, reading, and walking.
