Why St. John's?

It’s Monday morning and you face the start of another potentially long work week. Your teenager is all worked up over what her friend said at school today, or what his teammate made him feel… and you don’t know if you have the right words this time. It’s the day of your cousin’s funeral, who was a couple years younger than you are… and there are more questions than answers that day. You are feeling the sting of your conscience over the words you spoke or the action you took, and you know you could have handled a situation better than you did, but you didn’t. Maybe it’s a guilty conscience over something that took place years ago… and it still comes to mind too often. Or maybe the weight of something that was done to you so long ago.

All these things came to mind when I was asked, “What would you tell someone who wants to know why they should go to church?” Not one of those things will be magically solved simply by going to church, but what will happen at church is that you will be put in contact with the powerful Word of God. That word of God can instruct and direct us in our daily lives. It can provide answers where there’s only doubt. But it can do all that and more, because it ultimately always points us to the love of God, who so loved us all that he sent his own Son Jesus to be our Savior. Jesus came to live a perfect life in mankind’s place, and to die an innocent death to free us from sin, death and the devil. Come to St. John’s to hear and learn those wondrous truths, and maybe, just maybe those other issues of life will be answered as well. We are well-equipped to serve you and your family with Christian education and childcare from 6 months all the way through 12th grade in the Lutheran high schools with which we are affiliated. We also have pastors who are available for personal counseling, excellent professional counselors for referral, and bible studies to serve you and your family. That's why you should come to St. John’s. God bless your day!

Hope. Community. Purpose. At SJL we are a community of people who know we need hope and rescue. We struggle with sin. It shows up in our lives and ruins the good things God has given to us. We see brokenness and sin in the world all around us. Life is difficult.

At SJL you will be part of a community of people who are going through the same struggles in life, but who know there is hope. Jesus gives us certainty of a better life and a peace-filled existence. At SJL we rely on one another as we gather to hear about Jesus and his love and sacrifice for us. We find purpose in praising Jesus and showing his love in our lives. There is a place for you here.   We provide Christian education and childcare from 6 months all the way through 12th grade in the Lutheran high schools with which we are affiliated. We also have pastors who are available for personal counseling, excellent professional counselors for referral, and bible studies to serve you and your family.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Jeremiah 29:11
